Windchimes and Wishes

Well Hello! So glad to have You visiting with Us today on Our Front Porch. I got a big pot of coffee perking on the stove and some fresh cream to go in it. Hope You and Your Family have been doing good since Our last visit.
I got up extra early this morning. I always get up early for work or chores. But I could have actually slept a little longer this morning since I didn’t have to go into work. Don’t get Me wrong…the body was willing but My mind was just to full. You ever get that way? I think We all do at one time or another.
When I was younger it was because I worried constantly about everything. Took me along time to realize that You just can’t please everybody no matter how hard You try. In my adult years I worried about everything I couldn’t fix. Now adays I don’t so much worry as much as I am just trying to hold on for the ride, excepting GOD’s decisions and trusting in His plan.
The Bible says…Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken. (Psalm 55:22)
I know Blessings are coming.
The Morning has started off so nice and cool today, too bad it won’t last throughout the day. It kinda looks like we might get a little rain. I love sitting in the porch swing on the Front Porch and watching the rain fall and feeling the breeze.

Yall know I love wind chimes. I have got one over yonder on the far end of the porch that was My Momma’s. It hung on her front porch for a lot of years. My oldest daughter Sheila and I had gotten it for her one Easter when Sheila was just a itty bitty thing and when Momma went home to Heaven We brought it home and hung it on Our Front Porch. I think about My Momma a lot lately. Hard to believe she has been gone nigh onto 10 years.
Looks like the Dandelions are trying to take over the yard. When Jake was tiny he got out of the truck one day and said “Momma!! Look at all the wishes!!” lol
I think I am gonna get the kids to help me do a little yard work today if the rain holds off a spell. I need to start working on the fence again too. Always something to do…
Well I sure have enjoyed visiting with You again. Hate You have to go already. And be sure to come back and see Us again as soon as You can. And tell the Family We said Hey! God Bless!

One Day or Day One…..

Good Morning sweet Front Porch Friends and Welcome. Thank You so much for taking a little time and visiting with Us here at the Ranch today. Always such a special treat to see You. Hope You are doing well and all Your Family doing extra good!

We have the windows open this morning with a cool breeze softly blowing through. And of course I have a good size cup of Maxwell House Coffee to sip on while We are visiting this fine July day. I can hear the little wrens outside in the Gardenia bushes. They have been hunting worms early this morning and they musta found some cause they are chirping away so happily.

I gotta tell Yall.. My daily challenges have strengthened. I was thinking that either God was testing Me or the devil was coming up against Me to keep Me from trying to help Others. But I know that God loves Me and He always knows what is truly in My heart. So I talked to Him in prayer and like always… He answers.

Some of Yall know that I have an outside job away from the Ranch. When I became single again I also became the sole support for the Kids and the Ranch. And Yall I thought I did a lot of praying before I went to work.. that is nothing compared to the time I spend praying now. My little world got a lot bigger with a whole lot more people in it. Now I met some really good people and then I met a few not so pleasant people. (I spend the most time praying for those). Soooo My everyday routine changed. My health changed with having that awful stroke. My poor financial situation went from counting pennies for gas to a weekly budget for bills. And My faith in God was made even stronger.

I went from One Day to Day One…….

I am very proud of that…..    I went from living in the shadows of life to living in God’s radiant light. And all it took was one Prayer. All it took was for Me to ask God to make a change and then for Faith to step in and KNOW that change was coming. Now I still have struggles and strife. There are still problems and challenges that I have to face. But I know that no matter what God is with Me. There is not one place I will go that God has not already stood. I know that through it all He is with Me. He is with each of You too. I want to encourage You to pray through Your problems. You don’t have to do anything special. Just talk to God. He loves You and He always listens and He always answers.

Dear Friends I have so enjoyed Your visit with us today. Yall please come back and visit with Us again real soon on Our Front Porch as We continue on this amazing journey together. God Bless!

On the other Side of theStorm…….

Good Morning Dear Front Porch Friends! Let me start off by saying… I am sorry I have not written to let everyone know how things have been. I hope things with You and Your Family are very good.

For a little over a year I have been tossed and thrown about by storm after storm of hardship. Emotionally, Physically, and Financially. I will not lie to you. I was and am still to a certain degree, dealing with these issues. I am so weary from it. I ended a long relationship, I had to search for a new job and I suffered a minor stroke. I almost lost everything.

Going thru what I have gone through was and is difficult. But God has stood by my side with each Goliath I faced. With each hardship, like sandpaper, crafting me to be the person God wants me to become. Sanding down the edges so I could answer His calling. And on the other side of the storm, I began a new life, a new job and a new relationship.

To be perfectly honest….I heard that calling a few years before. But I thought…. “How in this world could God choose me? I am a sinner! There was no way God would ever pick me. I was not deserving! How could he ever choose me??”

So I did not heed that calling. I pushed it to the back of my mind. But now, years later,  I hear it again much louder. In my mind those same questions are repeating… “How in this world could God choose me? I am a sinner! There was no way God would ever pick me. I was not deserving! How could he ever choose me??”

But The Sovereign God, for no other reason than His own unfathomable love and mercy, chooses  sinners from every nation to be redeemed by the quickening power of the Holy Spirit and through the atoning death and resurrection of His son, Jesus Christ.

It is those sinners whom the Spirit quickens, that come to believe in Christ as Savior by the Word of God, are born again, become sons  and daughters of God, and will persevere to the end.

His justification is by faith and through it the undeserving sinner is clothed with the righteousness of Christ.

The goal of God’s salvation in the life of the Christian is holiness, good works and service for the glory of God.

This time, I will answer His call. This time I will stand up and take my place in service for His Glory. This time I will teach His Gospel.

Dear Friends please come back and visit with Us again on Our Front Porch as we begin this new journey together. God Bless!

Over the River and thru the Woods….

Well Hey Yall!!! So good to have Yall visiting today with Us on Our Front Porch. Sure glad You got to spend this time with Us on this chilly day. Hope Your Family is doing well and your work week off to a good start.

It is a short work week for most of us since the Thanksgiving holiday is this week. This is one of my favorite holidays. I like to call it the “talking” holiday. Where Families big and small will gather for great food and good conversation. Its always been a time to play catch up with everyone.

Turkey, dressing, giblet gravy, deviled eggs, broccoli soufflé, squash casserole, mash potatoes, corn niblets, baked beans, macaroni and cheese, candied sweet potatoes, cornbread, angel biscuits, pecan pie, banana pudding, pumpkin pie, pineapple upside down cake, chocolate chip cookies, cheesecake brownies and of course good ole Maxwell House perked coffee and sweet tea headline the Ranch Menu this year.

Now in Our family it was not just about the eating, it was about the cooking too! Grandma and Mamma and all the women in the Family sipping coffee and chopping and mixing. In later years after Grandma passed away it would be me and Momma and My kids. Granddaddy called them hen parties. Lots of laughter and love in the kitchen. (That’s still my favorite room in the house). Yall know, I can even close My eyes and hear the laughter still. Those made some good lasting, cherished memories.

Now, once again, its time for all the wonderful holiday traditions and a chance to make some wonderful new memories too……always a blessing around the corner we just have to slow down a might and look for them.

Counting Our Blessings is always how We start the Holiday. This year I decided that I want to start it off since Our Family has had such a tough year…… I am so thankful for Sheila, Jake, Grace and Brian. Yall make the tough times bearable. I am also thankful for Our dear sweet extended Family Elaine, Erica, Briley and River, All Our Families,  great Friends and Neighbors, Our Church Family and for each and every one of You reading this blog. Yall are all such a wonderful blessing.

We hope Yall have the best Thanksgiving ever! Be sure to come back and visit with Us again on Our Front Porch and tell the Family We said Hey and Happy Thanksgiving!

Ranch Life

Well Hey Yall!!! So good to have Yall visiting today with Us on Our Front Porch. Such a special treat to have You spending this time with Us today. Hope Everyone is fat and sassy and doing well.

With Dog Days finally over and some bad weather behind Us, the Ranch Family is looking very forward to some extra good Holidays ahead of Us. This is truly Our favorite time of year. We went to town the other evening and the stores have already got Their pumpkins out for sale. I just love seeing those big orange balls of happiness sitting on everyone’s front steps. And my, oh my, the pumpkin cookies and cup cakes and pies they had for sale looked wonderful.  I went home that night and made two yummy pumpkin pies for the Ranch Family to enjoy.

That reminds me Yall, locally We hope to be selling some home baked goodies, pecans, and hand sewn quilts at Our Farmer’s Market for the Holiday Season if Yall are not local to Us be sure and go out and support the Farmer’s Market in Your own Home Community.

Fall and Winter are the months we do a lot of projects, maintenance and repairs to the out buildings and Ranch land itself.  This year I have already started my list of chores and projects. I always like to include a fun new project for us to work on too so if anyone has any budget friendly ideas for something the Ranch Family could work on together be sure to drop Us a note in the message box and tell Us about your ideas.

The Ranch Family is surely blessed with wonderful, loyal and caring Friends. They make the hard times bearable.  Yall know life, like a river keeps moving forward. Remember that the bad times will not last. Find joy in the little things life offers you. God blesses each of Us every day in small ways. Make sure to take time and look for His blessings. And then when You are out of Your troubled times, be sure to be a blessing to someone else who may be going thru hard times. God is so good.

Well, We sure have enjoyed Your time with Us today on Our Front Porch. Yall be sure to come back and see Us again real soon, drop Us a note from time to time and let Us know how Your doing and please tell the Family We said Hey!

Straight up or Sideways…

Well hey Yall! Nice to see Yall today on Our Front Porch. Hope Your weekend was fabulous and Your work week gotten off to a grand start.

We are half way thru Dog Days Y’all. Autumn is just around the corner. Yee Haw!! This is one of my favorite times of year. Not too hot and not too cold. I was sitting on the front porch swing yesterday evening and even though its still hot, You can almost just smell the change coming in the air.

The Kids are already looking forward to the holidays and so am I. I know the department stores will run the holidays all together like usual. Happy New Hallowthankistmas. But at the Ranch we try to celebrate Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years separately. Each time is so special on its own and this year looks like its really going to be awesome.

I already have some ideas for the Christmas presents we are going to make this year. Oh yes if anyone has a good recipe for ole time Divinity please send it too us. I have never made it before but I am going to make it for a sugar sweet someone this year…or at least try to make it.

My wise Momma use to tell Me “When You hit rock bottom You only have two ways left to go Yall…straight up or sideways.”  Well I ain’t gonna lie, We been going kinda sideways for a few months now. But Yall God is so good! He has blessed Us with Family and Friends that love Us. Don’t know what We would do without each of Yall! Now all We have to do is wait on those blue skies.

Well, We sure have enjoyed Your visit with Us today on Our Front Porch. Always a wonderful treat to spend a little time with Yall.  Do come back and see Us again real soon and be sure to tell the Family We said Hey!

Well Hey Yall! So glad We get the chance to spend some time with You today On Our Front Porch! Thanks so much for stopping by to see Us. It really means a lot.

Yall know life is always changing and rearranging things. Sometimes those things are wonderful changes and sometimes those changes are not so wonderful changes. This Ranch and the Ranch Family, just like Yall, have Our fair share of ups and downs. And, just like Yall, We do the best We can with what choices We have at the time.

For Me, its always been about moving forward, taking care of the ones I love and keeping My focus on the task at hand. Like my Momma and My Grandma Ola and my Great Grandma Chat ….. home and family are the most important things.

But even the best of Us get discouraged. And right now that includes Me. I try real hard to be strong and to take care of those I love. I pray continually to see God’s plan and for the serenity to accept it.

I pray thankfully also for the many blessings We have in Our life. For the people who love Us and are loyal to Us, the many Friends and Family who continue to pray for Us and of course the Ranch. Yall are all awesome, awesome Folks.

I know this post is somewhat different than most of the ones I write. God just put this on My heart and I just needed to write it. I pray for abundant blessings for each and every one of You reading this, especially Yall who are going through tough times too. Just keep moving forward. God is always good!

Thanks so much for visiting with Us today on Our Front Porch. Yall be sure to come back and see us again real soon and as always, please tell all the Family We said Hey!

Laundry Day

Well Hey Yall! Its so good to have you spending a little time with Us today on Our Front Porch. Always a special treat to get to have Yall here and to share a little bit of this country life with You.

We have a little ice cold sweet tea (the house wine of the south) in the ice box if you want some. I think I am going to make some more tea this afternoon. Maybe make some yummy fudge brownies and a red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting…..yummmmmmm.

We had ten sweet ducks waiting on me this morning for some corn. Jake and Grace saw two baby ducks last week with them but I haven’t seen them yet. I keep hoping to catch a glimpse of them soon. I think ducks are my very favorite birds.

I am sad to report that my Hibiscus plant did not make it thru all this heat. I am still not sure what I did wrong with it. I need to do some more research on those. I haven’t had them before. Its a shame too. It had a very pretty pink flower.

Today is laundry day. Wash, dry, fold and put away. I always wanted one of those big walk in linen closets. Shelves of neatly folded sheets and towels galore. Think I will add that to my wish list.

I hope that the bumps in your life are very small ones. Please come back and visit with Us again on Our Front Porch. Have a great week and tell the Family We said Hey!

A Way of Life

porch1     Well hello there! Welcome Yall to Our Front Porch! So glad to have You stopping by and taking the time to visit with Us today. Always a special treat to have You spend some time with Us. Hope Your work week has started off good and Your Family fat and sassy.

christmas mailbox     The Ranch has gotten a good bit of rain this past week. Still the heat has been high, especially thru the middle of the day.  We always take care of chores early in the morning or late in the evening when its so very hot outside. I think the Lord gave Us the heat of Summer so we all would look forward to the Fall and Winter months. I love Fall and Winter, not just because of the cooler temperatures but also because I just love all the holidays and the decorating and sharing the fun times with Family and Friends.

cake     We’re baking a company cake today. My sweet tooth is kicking in. My sweet Momma always had a company cake baked on Sundays in case We had any visitors after church time. Usually she made a yellow cake with chocolate icing because most folks liked that kind. Every now and then she would change it up and do something different, especially during the holidays.

my quilt1     I’m kinda itching to work on my quilts some even though its hot weather. I have a Christmas quilt top I might try to work on soon. My Grandmamma Maola made the most beautiful quilts from just scraps. I always think of her when I work on my quilts. She was so talented.

me     Well We sure have enjoyed Your visit with Us today on Our Front Porch. Hope You have an awesome week. Drop Us a line and let Us know how Yall are doin and please tell the Family We said Hey!

porch     Well Hey Yall! So glad to have you visiting with us today on Our Front Porch! Hope your holiday was extra good and your Family doin well. The holiday weekend has put the Ranch Family a little behind on chores so we are all playing catch up today.

fireworks     The Kids had a good time poppin a few fireworks outside. We didn’t do too many cause we were worried about frightening Our animals since they are so loud. The fourth always reminds me of my brother Gregg. He loved going to see the fireworks. He took me and the kids to see them a lot. We really miss him.

brats     The Ranch family had some super good Hamburgers on the grill for the holiday celebration and even had a few Brats. First time We had had them on the grill, but it won’t be the last cause they sure were good. I made some seasoned fries and We had warm fudge brownies with homestyle vanilla ice cream for dessert. Yummy!!

dog days     The temperatures sure were hot over the holiday too. We want to remind Everyone to be extra careful in this heat since it is almost Dog Days. For Yall City Folks that’s the last week of July, all of August and the first week of September. To  Farmers, a dry growing season through the dog days was preferable to the trouble of a wet season:

Dog days bright and clear
Indicate a good year;
But when accompanied by rain,
We hope for better times in vain.

me     Well We sure hope You enjoyed Your time on Our Front Porch today. Always a special treat to get to spend some time visiting with You. Drop Us a line when You can and let Us know how Yall are doin and please tell the Family We said Hey!
